QUOTE-UNQUOTE:

MOONCHILD SANELLY: “PHASES”

“I think that, with this album, I’ve managed to piece all the different parts of me together, because I’m known for different things in different parts of the world. I think you get to know me better with ‘Phases’ - all the different sides of me. The different images depict the different characters that I am... The blue is me in charge — water even controls the body, the ocean and the moon. And that’s where it all starts. I’ve got dark moods, I’ve got light moods, I’ve got fun moods and I’ve got serious moods, but all of them are a part of the one Moon.”

ON THE Money Gun

“My relationship with money has been pretty cool. From not having it to having it! I think it’s healthy because it’s never deterred me from my dreams. Whether it’s within the times I’ve been making money and it gets stolen or not. It’s never changed the goal for my dreams. I make money from living my dreams and I love money and I love my dreams. Money has helped me not run back home because I need to survive and just be alive. I live because of money and that money comes because I’m passionate.”

ON THE Phone

“I don’t know if it’s a skill when you’re born being a hustler. You figure shit out and you capitalise on opportunity every single time. So it’s something you get better at because naturally you will fight to find a way to where you’re going. Over time you develop ways and get better at it. Hustling is in my blood.”

ON THE Baseball bat

“I feel like I’m pretty dark in the literal sense. I am a colourful punk. It’s another part of me, and I think it’s connecting to the music inside as well. Probably my vulnerable parts. I’m carrying a baseball bat because I’m ready to fuck shit up... I’m ready for the kill because this phase feels like global phase of my career. Out of everything I’ve always worked for, this feels like the phase where I have allowed myself to go through the different phases (sounds cheesy when I say phase all the time! ) but it’s different parts of me and all my phases. I think all of them express a different feeling you get from the different sounds you get in the album.”
